Our story

A lifetime of lived experience became a mission to preserve the voices history too often overlooked.

The Voice of Women is a story-driven, empowerment-based organization dedicated to elevating women’s perspectives, protecting women’s dignity, and restoring the authority of women’s lived experiences. It stands on the belief that women’s voices are not optional contributions — they are foundational truths that shape families, communities, and generations.

At its core, the organization exists to:

• Amplify women’s stories as legitimate historical and cultural records

• Teach women to reclaim their narrative power

• Build intergenerational bridges between daughters, mothers, elders, and ancestors

• Create spaces where honesty, respect, and autonomy are non-negotiable

Where truth becomes legacy

Through storytelling, ceremony, creative expression, archival restoration, music, education, and advocacy, we make certain their truths live forward.

Meet Essie Beamon — JUSmee

Essie is a Southern Black woman, truth teller, story keeper, fire carrier, and legacy builder. Her Alabama roots, ancestral wisdom, lived experience, and calm authority shape a cultural institution grounded in dignity, justice, healing, resilience, and faith.

I don’t tell stories to impress people. I tell them so someone who feels unseen will finally know they were never invisible.
